As we slowly head back weโve stopped in a lovely place called El Palmar in Valencia.
So this is where they grow Paella rice, thereโs got to be more Paella restaurants here, than in the whole of Spain!..but donโt quote me on that! Didnโt get the best of nights sleep, as we were kept awake by the sounds of gun shots! all of which seemed to be coming from all directions and very close by! On todayโs training run, we now understand what the supposedly โgun shotsโ were, of course…!! ย itโs the โGuardian 2โ bird blaster! and many of them, they are basically a cannon that runs off butane gas thatโs set on a timer and makes a loud gun shot/explosion noise, that can be set to blast every minute or half hour! so yes we โpitched campโ next to a bird scarer, set to every minute! they are used to protect the farmers crops, in this case Spainโs Paella, and it kicks out over 120 decibels over an area of 4 hectares!! I spent most of the night checking the local news channels on my phone, expecting to read about a civil war breaking out between the locals, anyway, looks like weโll be trying out the local Paella for breakfast! ย ๐ง๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ซ๐๐ฅ#notmuchsleep
