On Monday 25th June, Gabriella crosses the finish line as she finally completes her treatment for Breast Cancer, and only two weeks later, on Monday 9th July we set off on our world cycling tour…’question to self, are we excited?’ we don’t really know how to answer that.. its been a difficult and life changing experience over the last 18 months, since Gabriella being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the February of last year, and all the ongoing treatments, followed by losing our dearest friend Pat, back in August after a short yet courageous battle against ovarian cancer, and then Gabriella’s Mum having a triple heart bypass the same day Gabriella was undergoing a double mastectomy, so staying strong, positive or whatever people like to call it, is all you can do,ย but its not always that easy as many of you will know,ย especially when you’re in such a dark place,ย its like being under full attack in the middle of a battle field, and you areย completely unaware of whats going on around you, as though you are in a state of shell shock, yet your mind and body is in a mode of self defence/autopilot, and somehow takes you to a safe place, its only once the dust has settled that you realise where you have been, but you’re still alive!
To the people we have sadly lost in recent times, to the extraordinary help we have received from all the Consultants, Doctors, Nurses and staff at St Maryโs Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, The Christie, The Nightingale Centre, and everyone at our charity Prevent Breast Cancer, also to our friends and those family members, we would just like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for playing such a vital role in our lives. People ask us โwhy are you cycling the worldโ well thatโs easy to answer…we would like to show our gratitude by cycling around the world to try and help prevent people suffering from this terrible disease, by raising awareness and funding for the charity Prevent Breast Cancer, its the least we can do.
We made it Pat!!
