Mekong River

No bicycles today, instead we’ve been paddling through the jungle on the Mekong River, we stopped at Coconut Island to drink Snake and Scorpion Wine, it’s actually quite nice, but is rocket fuel, about 80% proof!

Just over 4 years ago we cycled the whole of Southeast Asia, a circular loop of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar/Burma. At the time we cycled the full length of the Mekong river through Vietnam and Cambodia following all the mud trails through the small villages to Laos, avoiding all roads, we stayed with many of the families and their children in the remotest places in Vietnam and Cambodia, so we are looking forward to being back in Cambodia and revisiting the families along the Mekong in a couple of weeks. We now continue to the very South of Vietnam to the tropical islands.
