Khiva & Bukhara – Uzbekistan

As we are on the Muslim Island of Phi Phi in Thailand, we thought we’d share our time when we cycled the Silk Road in the Stans, one of the harshest places on the planet is the desert of Uzbekistan, there’s nothing for hundreds and hundreds of miles, and then suddenly like an oasis in the desert, you come to Khiva, then a few days later Bukhara.
Khiva and Bukhara are ancient cities in Uzbekistan. It was a prominent stop on the Silk Road trade route between the East and the West, and a major medieval center for Islamic theology and culture. It still contains hundreds of well-preserved mosques, madrassas, bazaars and caravanserais, dating largely from the 9th to the 17th centuries. Heres a short video of these 2 amazing cities, includes a live prayer from one of the ancient mosques that we filmed that day (back ground music)
