Thanks to everyone thatโs sent us messages over the last few days, and yes we are very well thank you, but thank you for your concern ๐
Weโve just been very busy trying to find ways of continuing with our tour due to the ongoing situation, and also helping with Somdechโs boat.
So hereโs our latest update/plan or whatever you want to call it..
Today marks a very special day, as itโs officially 4 months since we arrived on the beautiful Phi Phi Island here in Thailand, and began our 4 month lockdown.
We have been living in one of the safest places in the world during the pandemic.
With just over 3000 cases and a total of 58 deaths throughout the entire Kingdom, Thailand has done a remarkable job controlling the virus, and continues to do so.
With the end of our amnesty visa date only just over a week away, the borders are still closed and thereโs hardly any international flights (flight not an option) we are hanging on to the hope that the Thai Government will โat leastโ let all foreigners stay longer until neighbouring land borders reopen, so far on the 31st July all foreigners must leave or face large fines and even imprisonment.. Weโre quite confident that in this weeks cabinet meeting, they will decide to let people stay longer until the global situation improves, but itโs a gamble, but one worth taking.
So on that note today we have decided to leave Phi Phi Island and see more of Thailand, in the past weโve already cycled Thailand in an anti-clockwise direction, so letโs see if weโve enough time to do it clockwise, but before we venture too far weโll see what the Government announcement is this week.
If all goes to plan we will travel around Thailand and head back to Phi Phi to see the completion of Somdechโs longtail boat, we are still desperately trying to fundraise to make this happen. From there if the Malaysia border opens in time, then thatโs our next destination, so fingers crossed!
We have agreed that if we are forced to get on an aeroplane, that will be the end of our world cycling tour, as that was never part of the plan, and will go and live in one of our favourite countries, thereโs so many to choose from! ๐

Hi to both of you and continued good luck with the trip.
Since you don’t seem to have heard, you have a visa amnesty until 25th September. Amazing for a country generally so strict and keen on getting money from farangs. Many Thais, and all Immigration and Police , are absolutely untrustworthy and only interested in farang money. A sad fact but true.
It is fortunate that you have been locked down in a little place on the island. I rather think that it would have been different on the other side, in the ferry zone.
Alex.
