How we travel..

We have many followers of whom are cyclists asking us about our average mileage!! why we donโ€™t do more miles each day, so we would like to explain why we do what we do, we can cycle from 70 (miles) in a day down to as little as 15 (miles) currently we are in Europe and have no timescale due to no visa requirements, but this will all change next week once we leave Europe as everywhere will be on a timescale, we donโ€™t really have an average distance each day as it all depends on the terrain, in our case many mountains and rough roads, you also have to take into account the weather, like the winter we have endured with snow, icy roads, head winds, heavy rain, sub zero temperatures, then thereโ€™s cooking and camping every night, so that involves cooking breakfast in the morning, washing, packing up camp and enduring the elements that day on your very heavy bike (Gabs 65kg Chris 100kg) then before sunset finding somewhere to camp, then setting up your kit, washing and cooking and bed ready for the next morning to do it all over again, just imagine, itโ€™s freezing cold outside, your clothes are all wet if not still frozen from the day before, and you have to put them on again,ย

all this and still trying to stop and look at things on route, the sights that we donโ€™t want to rush through as we may never see them again, people stopping us in the street to talk to us, taking photos, filming with camera and drone, stopping on the side of a road and cooking meals, also please ignore our average mileage on our tracker page on our website, thatโ€™s incorrect, it calculates our total days and mileage since setting off, then divides it up, itย  doesnโ€™t allow for when we have days or even a week off the bikes. So to all the cyclists and other people that ask us this question, in a nutshell average mileage is irrelevant, we have at least 7 years of cycling ahead of us, so this is not a ride out with a local club, itโ€™s our way of life, the other question we get asked is why we carry so much gear on our bikes, all I can say is we use everything we carry, we are carrying our home, our worldly belongings, so when you think about it, itโ€™s not much at all. Thanks for the questions and we hope this explains it better, anyway got to dash, itโ€™s 11:30 in the morning and Iโ€™m still not up! ๐Ÿ˜‚
