All these lovely people below “in no particular order!” have shown kindness by helping us in one way or another, before and throughout the start of our tour, so its our way of saying thank you! we call this page “our people” as we see them as our family and friends, every individual is part of our team that helps us to achieve our dream!
This page will constantly update as we cycle around the world, but heres a few to get started!
Manchester UK – Gabs Mum Stella
Spain – Mijas. Meet our dear beautiful friend Trish, we stayed with Trish when we was in training in Spain, Gabs has been a very close friend of Trish’s for over 15 years, Trish sadly lost her husband Pat to cancer some years ago, Trish is one of the most kindest and genuine people you could ever wish to meet, we love her to bits, and really hope she will fly out to see us at some point
Manchester UK – Mr James Harvey, this guy should be Knighted! not only is he a great cyclist, but James also specialises in breast reconstruction and is also involved in research into breast cancer and breast reconstruction. Jamesโ interests include increasing access to breast reconstruction and improving the quality of life for women choosing reconstructive surgery. James is also Chair of Prevent Breast Cancers Medical Advisory Board (MAB) and a member of the Prevent Breast Cancer Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
London UK – our friend Janet, she’s the CEO at the Royal College of Nursing
UK – Dartford Mayor David Mote
Manchester UK – Nikki Barraclough (far right) Nikki is the charityโs Executive Director and is responsible for managing the fundraising, finance and administration teams. She is also responsible for devising and implementing the charityโs strategy.
UK – Cambridge Mayor Nigel Gawthrope, this guy can dance!
Manchester UK – Professor Tony Howell -Professor Tony Howell is Prevent Breast Cancerโs Scientific Director. He is also a Professor of Medical Oncology at The University of Manchester. Tony has specialised in treating breast cancer for over 30 years and now focuses on pharmacological and lifestyle measures to prevent breast cancer. He is Chairman of several international breast trials and is the former Chairman of the UK Breast Trials organisation (UKCCCR), the British Breast Group and the ATAC trial. Up to the end of 2007, Tony was the Research & Development Director of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Research Director of the Greater Manchester & Cheshire Cancer Research Network. He is also the former Director of the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Unit, and the Manchester Breast Centre. Tony was the Chief Investigator of the IBIS-II Prevention Study. Tony enjoys lecturing internationally and has had published over 600 scientific papers and book chapters, mainly concerning the biology of the breast and the treatment and prevention of breast cancer

Germany – We stayed with this lovely lady and her family in Mainz, she’s also an opera singer!
Manchester UK – Lester Barr, Founder and Chairman of Prevent Breast Cancer , Lester Barr, was instrumental in helping to plan and design the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre in collaboration with the Nightingale NHS Breast Screening Centre. Lester is also a Consultant Breast Surgeon with a particular expertise in breast reconstruction. He has recently conducted research into artificial environmental chemicals and breast cancer.

Coniston UK – a lovely couple Keith and Dorothy we went to revisit, their daughter had recently been treated for breast cancer so we payed them a visit at the start of our tour
Germany – Marie and Burt, our first hosts in Germany
Manchester UK – My biggest sacrifice, leaving my son Jacob, he had just turned 19 when we set off, this picture is from our grand depart, he means the world to me, and is my only family, I miss him, but hopefully he will fly out to see us when he can, we keep in touch which is very important
UK – Belper Mayor Tim Sutton, we met Tim at the start of our tour, 3 months earlier he had lost his wife to breast cancer, an inspirational man, a true gentleman.
Our great friend Libby Gomm, we met Libby through the Happy House childrens orphanage in Watamu Kenya
UK – Thistleton. Our fantastic neighbours Nigel and Joan, back in the UK in the village of Thistleton, we miss them dearly, we do keep in touch by email and send postcards, but its not the same, they stood by us through difficult times, they are one in a million and we love them to bits.
These 6 people are an amazing and such fun loving family with four beautiful children, they are our good friends, and we stayed with them at the start of our world tour, they also live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Finsthwaite in the Lake District, Cumbria, right next to Lake Windermere, they also sell Wallings Ice Cream, and the best cakes from where they live located at the bottom of High Dam, in the stunning village of Finsthwaite, its called Dam’ Fine Ices! check out their facebook page!
